GGBL sets up manufacturing unit facility East Africa

 According to the Africa Web, the equipment known as the Cube, is valued at US$4.2mn. The plant is currently producing Gilbey’s Gin, which was launched in Accra last month. South Africa s Scaw Metals to open US$40 million grinding plant in East Africa

 According to the Ghana Herald, the plant is expected to become fully operational in 18 months. It will have the capacity to grind 50,000 metric tonnes of metals per annum. Scaw Metals produces chrome forged grinding media that are used in gold and copper industries. The company set up its regional sales office in Tema in 2011, which serves as its hub in West Africa. Unilever to build a US$90 million factory in Africa

 The new factory has been scheduled to start production by 2014, incorporating Unilever’s latest manufacturing technologies. Nampak to invest US$179 million in African manufacturing unit

PPC to set up plant in Africa

 The company revealed the information last week without giving out the details of how much the project would be worth. General Electric to build manufacturing unit in Africa

P&G to invest US$170 million in Africa

Indorama to build fertiliser plant in Africa

 Indorama management declared that all plans have been concluded towards the setting up of the plant, which will be Africa’s largest fertiliser unit. According to managing director Manish Mundra, the project was part of the company’s effort towards making Nigeria the largest petrochemical location in Africa by the year 2017. Elevator Manufacturer Kone acquires Marryat dealers in East Africa

Elevator manufacturer Kone has acquired Marryat & Scott (Kenya) and Marryats East Africa, in a deal that would see the company grow its grip in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.
